Devan stomped out of the male toilets, his head looked like it could explode at any time. He looked around, but alas, no one was there. He 'hated' it when something was gone and no one replaced it. He stomped into the girls toilet next to the boys toilets, and slammed open the doors to the toilets. Sure, of course, all empty as well!

The most likely places to find any people was in the cafeteria. So he walked across the wardrobes, hallway into the cafeteria area. No one... he rolled his eyes kicked a chair away from a table and sat down. One of the nice tribe leaders must be reading a kid story or something for the children somewhere upstairs. At least the brats didn't pester him then.

Devan crossed his arms and swung his legs up on the table. Even tho he needed it right now, he wasn't gonna look through the whole building. He let out a loud sigh. He was already counting on it he had to start using leaves or something.

They were reading stories. Yes, stories. Upstairs in one of the larger classrooms, some of the older teens gathered the children to read. Lindsay had been invited, of course, but she instantly declined the offer. The girl could read on her own (and in several languages, at that!). She certainly didn't feel the need to sit and listen. Well, to words anyway. After leaving the other wing, Lindsay had made her way downstairs. She headed to the kitchen, attempting to raid the fridge like she used to. Of course, it was completely wrong and after staring at the open door for a few minutes, she left. There was not much else to do, so she found one of the benches in the cafeteria and laid on it.

Taking her lost-n-found ipod from her pocket, Lindsay smiled. The battery was still showing full, though it would probably flash down to three quarters soon enough. Not caring for the moment, Lindsay set the timer to turn the player down in ten minutes. She would be asleep by then and there wasn't any use leaving it on during that time. Closing her eyes, Lindsay relaxed fully. She was about to fall asleep when the ipod clicked off. That's when she heard the slamming. Slamming of doors and stomping around. Groaning at the interruption, the girl pulled the buds from her ear and stored everything in her pocket.

Lindsay continued to lay down, despite the noises. She hoped they would go away. When all appeared quiet, the girl finally decided to sit up. Seeing another figure sitting on a table near the doors, Lindsay realized why there was no more sound. The older boy let out a sigh, causing Lindsay to let out one of her own. It was Devan. Now she really couldn't just pretend she had never seen him and go back to sleep. Getting up slowly, Lindsay made her way over to him.

She plopped down next to him as if she had no other care in the world. "You interrupted my nap," the small girl informed him. Though her voice sounded like she cared, Lindsay didn't really. She was used to having her naps interrupted. So often, in fact, that she was always looking for new places to crash. Apparently, the cafeteria was a bad place. Lindsay pulled her legs close and put her arms around them. Resting her face on her knees, she turned to Devan again, giving him a quizzical look. "What's the matter?"

Devan looked up as he heard another person sigh. Of course, lazing Lindsay. To his annoyance the girl walked over to him and sat down in a chair across him.

"You interrupted my nap"

The boy kept silent for a moment, "Good." he simply replied. "Maybe you should find another place to continue it." He said sarcastically in the direction of the girl. If there was one person more lazier then him in this entire tribe it was Lindsay. He still disliked the brat who showed Lindsay the way to their tribe.

As usual he let his eyes slide off the person he didn't want to interact with and started to mind his own business again. Most people disliked that for one reason or another and just left. Not this girl of course.

"What's the matter?"

Slowly he turned his face towards Lindsay again, with a very annoyed look on his face. 'What's the matter?"

'Well some brat ate all the toilet paper I'm assuming as everything is gone." If he could remember corrently, yesterday there was enough toilet paper for another whole week if not longer. Maybe they should put up a rule that the little kids couldn't use any toilet paper. As they obviously didn't know how to use it apparently. Or let the tribe leaders whipe the kids arses. Because apparently they were forgetting toilet paper wasn't really made anymore.

"Unless you have any clue where I might find some toilet paper, go search another table and mind your own business." Devan said in a snappy manner.

Devan reacted just like Lindsay predicted, but that didn't deter her in the least. She knew what he (and some others in the tribe) thought of her. Lindsay knew she sometimes seemed like a layabout, but the people who saw that didn't see all of her. The girl actually knew how to do a fair share of work. She just chose to do it when others weren't looking. Lindsay never wanted any of the attention that some got when they completed a task. In fact, she never wanted any attention at all. She would be comfortable to just exist here. The only reason Lindsay belonged to a tribe at all was because she wasn't stupid. She didn't want to die just yet.

Even though Devan suggested she leave, Lindsay didn't. Lots of people asked her to do the same thing, but she hardly ever listened to them. Sometimes this would annoy them to no end, but in other times, they would actually be glad of her presences. Lindsay could be helpful even for the things that didn't need helping. She was a good listener and would often just let people share their problems. Though, Lindsay didn't think that was the case with Devan. Besides, he was probably the last person to share his feelings with anyone, let alone her.

Her question did not spark a positive reaction in the boy next to her. It seemed as all of the toilet paper had disappeared, making Lindsay laugh a little. She knew that was likely to annoy Devan further, but she couldn't help it. Out of everything, he was worried about a few missing rolls of toilet paper. Unfortunately, she didn't know anything about them, to help. Well, perhaps the papers the children were drawing on earlier weren't actually paper, but toilet paper.

In that case, Lindsay knew exactly where the rolls lay, but decided against saying anything to Devan. It probably wasn't the best idea. He might just go up and strangle a little boy. "Have you even looked anywhere else?" she asked, smiling. There were plenty of other bathrooms in the school after all. Plus, there were several storage closets that were chucked full of the stuff. "Come on," Lindsay said, standing. "I'll show you were to find it."

"Have you even looked anywhere else?"

Devan looked at the girl from under his eyebrows, making it more like some sort of evil glare. In Devan language it meant something like, you really think i'm bothering looking somewhere else? He wished those brats would give him more credit once in a while. Why should he be bothered searching for toilet paper while he was always the one going out to find food and other stuff. Well, he wasn't the only one, but still.

"Come on," Lindsay said, standing. "I'll show you were to find it."

'Why don't you go find it yourself, and once you found it return here to say so?" Devan replied without any noticable emotions put in it. It was more a sort of bored tone. "I thought that you girls were supposed to keep this place clean. So putting new toilet rolls in toilets should be your task as well."

He swung his arms around his neck, displaying he really wasn't going to stand up from his relaxed sitting position.

The boy already had to endure the girl on some occasions when they were send out together to find food and supplies. He was faster on his own, and the girl had a tendency not to listen to him (or to anyone else for that matter). Which annoyed him even more. So he really couldn't be bothered walking with her to find some damn toilet rolls. If she knew where they were, so could go and get them herself. And well he wasn't the only one with the problem of no toilet rolls, there weren't any in the girls toilets either. Not that Devan would mention that to the girls though.

Lindsay caught Devan's glare, but chose to ignore it. She knew what it meant and didn't care to let him continue. Why the boy insisted on being so difficult, she wasn't sure. Maybe it was in fact, caused by his disease. Sadly, he was not alone in having the affliction.Nearly half of the population suffered from it as well. It was called being a male. A few lucky boys didn't suffer this, but the rest easily feel victim. Lindsay never liked that boys thought they were better just because they were boys. It was clear that Devan had a sever case of it.

When it was clear he wasn't going to follow, Lindsay sat right back down. She managed to keep her cool when he made his smart comment on the girls. The girl wanted to retort that it absolutely was not a girl's job to clean. They were not slaves to the boys. And that being the case, Lindsay certainly didn't have to obey anything Devan told her. Crossing her legs, she leaned back. "I just thought you might like to know in case a girl wasn't around to help you next time," she remarked quietly. "Besides, it's not looking if you already know where it is. This will take five minutes out of what is your extremely life."

As he leaned back, Lindsay also made herself more comfortable. There way no way that she was just going to get up. The girl was already busy formulating other plans. She could easily find the rolls, but Devan didn't say how much was needed. Perhaps they only needed one roll with a single piece left on it? That could more than easily be arranged. There had to be something else. He looked a little too smug about the fact that he only needed toilet paper. Perhaps there wasn't enough in either bathroom? Devan was probably sensible enough to look in more than just his stall. Coming to that conclusion, Lindsay wanted to get up and check the ladies room as well, but resisted that urge. She would just sit and play the waiting game. Besides, it wasn't as if she needed to go.

With a smirk he replied, `For me it would be looking, for you not."

Devan could notice the girl was getting annoyed with him. It definitely showed because she didn't reply to his comments. Most girls snapped his head right off after such a comment, so she was quite good at keeping her mouth shut. Which was rather nice. And peaceful. The girl made it comfortable for herself. So they were going to play a game. Devan liked such games.

He knew the girl was curious to know why he didn't just go with her. He wasn't being difficult though. It really wasn't his job. If someone has used up the toilet paper, it was their problem and they should get a new roll. It was common courtesy. At least he had learned that from his parents at least. Maybe common courtesy had dissapeared with the adults.

So instead of his usual habit of not looking at people, he focussed on Lindsay's face. Studying it rather then just plain staring at it. He hadn't actually ever looked at the girl properly. Devan wasn't a person to study other people and how they look exactly. Somehow he always looked past people and things, he just didin't notice.

Next to him the girl would be... small. But what striked him the most were her eyes. And for some reason he quickly let his eyes dart elsewhere instead of looking her straight in the eyes. He couldn't really figure out why and he hated that. But he kept his mouth shut and didn't let his eyes flicker away from her. If she wanted a staring contest, she could get one.

(OOC: Sorry it's late)

Oh, Lindsay knew exactly what it would be for Devan, and she resisted the urge to tell him. It wasn't too hard as the girl thought the joke would be lost on him. It wasn't worth it to share something that nobody else would find humorous. Lindsay would much rather keep those things to herself. Besides, it gave her something to smile at while others looked on, slightly confused. In fact, she was smiling at this moment, not really caring to see if Devan cared.

He probably wouldn't even bother to look at her anyway. Lindsay had noticed, through observation (which was slightly ironic in this case) that Devan didn't often look at people. He would glace, run them over, but never stop to see them. Not that he was the only one who did it, but Lindsay found it odd. She couldn't understand how someone could talk to another person, but never really look at them. So, he might notice her smile, but was unlikely to think anything of it.

Glancing up to see him, Lindsay was surprised and wondered if she should take back her previous thoughts. His eyes were squarely on her and she looked up to meet them. His gaze moved away, as if he was unnerved or something. Allowing for another small smile, Lindsay thought that might be crazy. Nobody was ever scared of her. Lindsay just wasn't the kind of girl that frightened others by her appearance alone. She was small and scrawny. Most people didn't see past that. There wasn't really anything there to scare anybody.

Coming to the conclusion that there was nothing about her to make Devan nervous, Lindsay propped up her face with her hands and looked at him. "This isn't really about the toilet paper," she told him. Although the girl was unsure herself of what this was all about, she knew that it definitely wasn't about the toilet paper. It was probably some subconscious thing or whatever. And she ought to know; her mother was a psychologist. There was always some of that babble going around in their household. Her mother always had the answers for everything. Never mind that Lindsay didn't want to hear from a psychologist, but her mother. No, Elise Carr couldn't stop being her job enough to just be a mother. The only person she was like that around was her husband.

Blinking the past away from her eyes, Lindsay focused back on Devan. It was much easier just to handle the present. Don't think about the past, don't worry about the future. That was her motto, which could probably be considered cheesy, but the girl didn't care. It was how she got by and that was what mattered. Still looking at the boy, Lindsay wasn't quite sure what to say. Words didn't usually fail her, but she definitely wasn't feeling as happy as she did a few minutes ago.

Devan had the urge to roll his eyes. The girl just kept smiling at him. Why would she smile at him? No one ever smiled at him. Or maybe she was just smirking, feeling good about herself or something. But she hadn't won anything, not yet, and he wouldn't allow her to win anything or make her feel like she was better then Devan.

"Isn't it?" he smirked. "Whats it about then?" Devan replied quickly.

He studied the girl in front of him again. She looked a bit unsure for some reason to him. Devan didn't care though what the girl was feeling at the moment. Did he ever care at all what other people thought or were feeling anyway? Maybe he did, but no one noticed, or no one wanted to notice. It was probably the last. Everyone saw him as the annoying though guy. And Devan kept up to that appearance. He couldn't be anything else. Because if he was anything else, he wasn't Devan. And that wasn't save. the person he was now was the person that had survived so far. Devan didn't know how to be something else.

'Whats the matter, cat got your tongue?" Devan said slowly after a few moments of silence between the two teenagers.

(sorry I can't get anything more out atm XD.)

They were playing a game. A game that Lindsay was quickly becoming bored with. At the moment, she could care less about what Devan was thinking. It was childish, but clinging to that made the girl childish as well. She didn't care, but she didn't want to give up either. That was how Lindsay worked. It wasn't about winning anything, but it was more about satisfying her curiosity. If it was wasn't satisfied, Lindsay wouldn't feel complete or at rest. So, even though she didn't really want to care about what Devan was thinking, she did. Even though she didn't want to play this game, she did.

He responded to what was supposed to be a rhetorical statement. Lindsay didn't even know if you could make those, but she wanted that to be one. It was supposed to be something he wouldn't reply to, but Devan had. The girl hated it when that happened. Taking it all in stride, Lindsay pretended to not care. She was good at pretending. It was something that came easily to her, even more so over the last year. She knew the difference between lying and pretending, respecting that. It was different, and Lindsay was about to pretend.

"I think you know quite well," she informed him again. This time, she knew it wouldn't be taken as rhetorical, so decided to add more. It couldn't hurt any. Well, with Devan, one never knew, so perhaps it would. "You don't care about the toilet paper--well, perhaps superficially--but you'd rather just boss me around. I know that." Don't think the others don't either.

The sat in silence, but that was all part of the game. Lindsay didn't break it and tried not to mind it. Used to chatter, the girl liked to talk. However, this was how they were going to do things and Lindsay had to abide by that. Soon enough, Devan ended up breaking the game anyway. Raising her brows slightly, Lindsay responded, "Cat got yours?"

He kept silent for a while longer. Devan really wasn't going to give a reaction to her retort that Lindsay wanted to hear. Slowly he started to laugh, it was a deep dark laugh. "You really think I see you as someone I can boss around?" he replied quite amused. "If I had wanted to boss you around I would've become a leader a long time ago."

It was rather amusing really, if there was anything Devan wasn't doing it was bossing around people. Sure he annoyed others, he was rude, questioned decisions made by their 'fearless' leaders. But no, not bossing around people. Especially not this little girl. There was also a big difference in bossing people around and giving people tasks.

Devan stood up. He had enough of this stupid game they were playing. And he liked being the person to do the unexpected. Because that mostly annoyed people as well. "So you'll show me where they are now?" He asked, not nearly as kind as someone else would've asked. But why did he have to be kind to a girl that just wanted to badmouth him? He crossed his arms as he looked down upon the girl waiting for her to make a move. If she decided not to help him out it would be her loss.

Devan's laugh and answer didn't bother Lindsay in the slightest. That was mostly because she thought his statement to be false. From everything the girl had gathered of Devan, he did not want to be a leader at all. He had been part of the tribe for as long as it had been around. There would have been plenty of opportunities for him to become a leader. Lindsay thought if he wanted to boss people around for the pleasure of it, he certainly could. This little thought got her sidetracked and the girl could have spent the rest of the day thinking about why the boy opposite her was or was not a leader. It would give her a headache, she had no doubt. Instead, Lindsay chose to do the mature thing. (The immature alternative would be sticking out her tongue and saying something quite rude (in German, no less).)

However, Lindsay would not make her vulgar retort for many reasons. Instead, she just inspected her fingernails. Looking at them, she realized that they could use some cleaning. Perhaps when she went up to her room… Her thoughts were interrupted when Devan stood up. She was hoping he would do that, but had he not; the girl would have just gone on sitting. It would have been quite amusing, actually. Lindsay didn’t think she would last long, but it would have been interesting to time herself. Instead, Devan asked if she knew where to get the paper. It wasn’t the most polite of requests, but she was satisfied enough by it.

“I thought you’d never ask,” the small girl replied sweetly, standing up as well. It wasn’t too far, actually. She was surprised that Devan hadn’t thought to look there. Then again, it was Devan. And he was of the male variety, so that hindered things a bit. Smiling slightly, she walked out of the room. If he followed, that was his choice. If not, she would go another direction and he would never get his toilet paper. However, knowing some of the kids in this school, they would replace the toilet paper soon enough. Better to give a kid like Devan somewhat of a better image. That thought made her chuckle out loud. Now, he would really think she was crazy.

Lindsay led him up a flight of stairs, stopping at the next floor. The supply closet wasn’t too far away and it only took them a minute or so to reach it. She jimmied open the lock (because it was an old door) and walked in the room. Devan was still there and no doubt watching very carefully. He would probably call her ridiculous for even looking here, but the toilet paper was hidden. Not hidden by choice, but simply because there was lots of stuff (at one point) in here. For a moment, Lindsay debated leaving Devan to find it, but she moved to the back of the room and got on her hands and knees. Now this would take a bit of finagling.
