IC Information

General Information
  1. Original First/Middle/Last name: Kaley MacKenzie
  2. Current Name: Meadow
  3. Gender: Female
  4. Hometown: Foshill
  5. Current Location: In and around Gardum City
  6. Age: 18
  7. Belongs To: Stray
  8. Status in Tribe: /
  1. Physical Appearance:

Meadow stands at a medium height of 5’7 (1.70m) and has an athletic build. She isn’t overly thin which you might expect of a girl living mostly outside, she’s just slim. Her skin is always tanned, as she spend a lot of times in the sun since she was a small kid. Even during winter her tan barely fades anymore.

She always wears clothing appropriate to the weather type. In the winter she takes care to wear layered clothing and a jacket that doesn’t let wind and water through. Although as soon as it gets over 15 degrees celcius (59F) Meadow discards the layered clothing. And when it gets even a little warmer she’ll start to wear shorts when she’s tracking or hiking together with a tank top. Meadow enjoys spring and summer the most of all the four seasons just because she’s able to wear light clothing then. The girl always walks on the same pair of shoes, hiking shoes she bought two years ago. They were pretty expensive and because of the quality she hopes they can last for a few years at least.

    ((more appearance will be added))
  2. General Personality:

Meadow has always been a girl with strong opinions and was quite outspoken at an early age already. A great part of who Meadow is now is because of her upbringing. Meadow has always been both an independent curious girl, but also very attached to her parents and friends. She was always there for them as they were for her. If someone needed help the girl mostly didn’t have to think twice to get up and help that person. The virus didn’t change much of the girl she used to be. She is still caring and ready to help others. Of course with a little more tact and being quite careful before she gets in over her head. Just because she doesn’t like to be lied to or cheated.

If a tribe needs her help she is willing to help as long as they give something in return. A place to sleep, a meal, or something else she might need. Meadow is always kind towards everyone who is kind to her. Even though she doesn’t belong to any tribe doesn’t mean she doesn’t interact with anyone. Quite the other way around. In her travels in and around Gardum City she met other kids. Some dangerous, others she forged some kind of friendship with, and some ran away. She met them all, and luckily Meadow is resourceful enough to have gotten away from some tight situations.

What many kids lack is something Meadow was brought up since she was a little girl. And that was how to survive. Many times she went out with her parents, and especially her father to go out hiking. Where her dad learned most what she knows now. And that is to survive of what nature provides and what she can create with the resources she does still have. She can light a fire with a flint and a knife. If she doesn’t have a flint, with some more work she’s able to make fire with two pieces of wood using friction. She knows what plants are edible and which could be used for medicine. And Meadow knows how to set snares to catch rabbits and other small animals. What seemed like a hobby and interest in cultures long gone was now something that was vital in this world. With the skills in bushcraft she was brought up with and her stubborn personality. As well as her general positive outlook on the world Meadow was able to survive in a different way then most kids.

What Meadow really wishes to do is settle down. Settling down would mean it’s a lot easier to survive. But it’s nearly impossible now. But if there’s a way to settle down, if someone offers it to her, she might just take it.
  3. Hobbies/interests:
Collecting everything that has to do with the virus.
Generally scavenges for small things that others don’t find useful.
Finding more survival skills and writing it all down.
When bored she makes jewelery out of shells, small stones, feathers etc.
    Likes to sing or hum.
  4. Views/Opinions:

Meadow is a girl with very strong opinions. It’s only a matter of time before tribes like the Psycho’s are destroyed by themselves. Can food won’t last. And when can and packaged food is gone, what then? Its quite obvious that they have to start to rebuild their society. It will be a slow process but it is inevitable. For now Meadow survives on her knowledge of nature, but if she can settle down on a farm, she will. But that is still too dangerous. If she starts to keep animals and grow her own food it’s quite likely tribes like the Psycho’s will steal it from her.
No, things have to settle down first. Until now she hasn’t taken an active role into that. There have been times she stayed with a tribe, where she traded her knowledge about nature for a place to sleep and a meal (sometimes beans can be nice). But Meadow never joined one. For now she doesn’t intend to do that either. She likes her independence at the moment. But it could change at any given time if she is given a few good reasons.
  5. Quirks: Is very ticklish. Frowns when she is thinking very hard.
Background & Example RP
  1. Background:

George and Anne MacKenzie were both thirty-three years old when Anne gave birth to their first and only child. Kaley grew up like any normal kid, although they did go camping and hiking more often then other families. George was an archaeologist with a particular interest in hunter-gatherer societies across the globe in different periods of time. Especially interested in the indigenous hunter gatherer tribes that still lived on the world before the virus broke out. Because of her husbands busy job that required him to travel a lot Anne was a stay at home mother. However she did help her husband in archiving pretty much anything that had to do with his projects and research.

The little girl was very close to her mother, but as well to her father. And she would miss him dearly whenever he was somewhere on the other side of the world. Kaley got the nickname ‘Meadow’ from her father because Kaley loved to go to the nature reserves with their outstretched meadows. Here Meadow’s love for nature grew passionately as well and through her own curiosity she got her father to teach her what he learned through his research and travels. George never wanted to push his daughter in doing things she didn’t want to do, but he was always very proud of his daughter she wanted to learn the knowledge of bushcraft. Such interest wasn’t found a lot in children in such modern times.

She attended the local primary school in her hometown Foshill. Meadow was a bright student, but never top of her class. That didn’t interest her that much though. Some subjects came very easily to her, others were a bit harder. When Meadow was interested in something it was easy for her to remember it. But something that didn’t interest her it was harder to remember it. And for those subjects she had to study harder, for the easy subjects she barely had to study. Hearing the teacher explain it and reading it once would be enough then.

Meadow made friends quite easily as well and she could relate well to other children. There was almost never a day she didn’t have a friend that she went to play with after school, or where friends came over to her house.

A big change happened when she had to change schools as it was time to go to high school. It was decided that the best place to go to was Gardum City. From the many high schools here they picked St. Jonathan High as the school Meadow would attend. The teenager had to get used to traveling to and from the city everyday and not being able to go home for lunch, which she now had to take on school. Like many of her other old classmates from primary school Meadow cycled to and from school every day. Even on bad days with a lot of rain and wind she didn’t mind this at all. She liked being active, she also enjoyed PE. She was lucky she had a few old classmates from primary school in her high school class as well. But Meadow made friends with her new classmates as well.

In the summer breaks Meadow and her parents always went on a vacation for a month. To another country generally camping, hiking and traveling around. Meadow never disliked these vacations, as she became a little older it was rather her who was dragging her parents to places then the other way around like it was before. These were also the times Meadow learned new things from her father and her bushcraft skills were increased. However whenever George had the time, he would take his daughter hiking even outside the summer break. They always at least had one hiking trip during autumn or winter. Because George believed you couldn’t fully understand the art of bushcraft if you didn’t experience it in colder weather. In summer it was easier, as there was a lot more of everything.

When Meadow was 17 years old, her father was in Africa when the virus broke out. She had never been able to properly say goodbye to her father. He was studying one of the local indigenous tribes and Anne and her daughter had no way of contacting their father before everything went down. It was hard for Meadow, but she knew as well as her mother it wasn’t a time to do nothing and mourn. Before the virus took her life Anne prepared her daughter for what they expected this would bring. Because preparation was the key to survival. None the less it wasn’t easy for Meadow when finally her mother died because of the virus.

What came after this was something Meadow couldn’t have possible ever dreamed off. Her mother wasn’t the first to die, but not the last either. As days passed it became clearer with the hour no adult would survive this horrible virus. Sheer determination to survive kept Meadow sane enough to start packing, hiding things she couldn’t take with her and gathering supplies that could one day save her life. Simple things like rope, knifes, pots and pans and you name it. She did went through some of the homes she knew old people lived in, taking the hard task upon herself to bury most of these people as well. It was hard on her, especially the breaking in part. It went against everything she stood for, breaking in, raiding a home. Even though she knew none of the things found in these houses was to any use to the dead. It felt like she was committing one of the worst crimes.

After about a week Meadow decided to head out and see what happened in and outside the town. Many of the older teenagers from the town were banding together and started to take care of the younger children and babies that were left behind. Meadow wasn’t up to this yet, even though some of them were her friends. Luckily they could understand this, but Meadow always came back to check up on them and help them out whenever she could and bringing news from others parts. Steadily Meadow traveled further outside town, across fields, rivers, through Gaia forest, other towns. For about two months Meadow didn’t go anywhere near Gardum City. But eventually her curiosity won. She however was quite saddened what had happened in the city.

There is another thing that Meadow has been busy with since the outbreak of the virus. Gathering information about the virus, in all forms and shapes. Generally newspapers and magazines. Because she wants to figure out where the virus came from. Because if there’s one thing she doesn’t want is that eventually everyone who will turn 19 will die. So that humanity will gradually just fade away. She always believed humanity will either continue going strong or go out with a bang. Not slowly fading away without being able to do anything about it. So for some reason she feels responsible to find out the truth about what happened.

Being out most of the times in the last nine months has made Meadow in a resourceful and creative girl. Even though she easily lays contacts with other children, she is very careful about her ‘place’. Which she set up around three months after the outbreak of the virus. Her place is just bordering the city. Here is where she stores pretty much everything she finds that is useful. Here newspapers, magazines, pictures hang on the walls in the basement. Shelves stuffed with what would seem junk to most kids, but are treasure for Meadow in the long run. But it is perfect, from the outside it’s a rundown old mostly wooden house. When you go inside there’s no reason to believe anyone is still living in the house. But a tattered carpet and a table hide the trapdoor leading to the basement. She has other places where she hides things so that if one is discovered she hasn’t lost everything. However if someone does discover her place she would be forced to move out.

Meadow is still up until this day, nine months after the virus, traveling around, gathering information and resources. Surviving on her own but always trying to find company in some way or another. She has made friends during her travels these nine months, but also some enemies or people she’d rather not meet again.
